Ikeja Electric payment also knows as IE payment is a service offered by the electricity distribution company (DISCO) that covers some part of Lagos States Abule Egba, Akowonjo, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Oshodi, and Shomolu. The payment service allows customers to buy electricity or pay electricity bills. 
The distribution company is authorised by NERC to supply electricity to the areas mentioned above.
And part of the responsibility of the company is also to make sure there is the availability of prepaid meters to its customers so as to remove the old practice of estimated billing.

The cost of electricity is dependent on so many factors and some of the factors include the

  • The Location of the consumer/customer

    Depending on the distribution company (DISCOs) that is distributing power in your area, the price you pay buying electricity might differ compare to someones in another area.

  • Class of Tariff

    There are five different tariff class for electricity consumers in Nigeria and the tariff class is dependent on area classification. The area classification is based on a typical energy consumption rate peculiar to the area. Take for example, if you live in an industrial area, the energy consumption in that area will be much higher and you may be paying more tariff and also you may have more power supply.

    A. Residential:  A customer who uses his premise exclusively as a residence - house, flat, or multi-storied house.

    B. Commercial: A customer who uses his premise for any purpose other than exclusively as a residence or as a factory for manufacturing goods.

    C. Industrial: A customer who uses his premises for manufacturing goods including welding and ironmongery.

    D. Special: Customers such as agriculture and agro-allied industries, water boards, religious houses, government and teaching hospitals, government research institutes and educational establishments.

  • The Quantity of energy consumed in Kilowatt hour (KWh)

    This is the amount of electricity a home or property consume in every hour. The quantity consumed by a consumer or customers will always be different because of the fact that they have different electrical appliances in their homes and properties. The Appliances have different ratings and work for different durations.

      Most Ikeja electric payments can be made online and only in exceptional case are customers required to make payments directly in the bank or any of their offices.
