CIU -PC1 Meter Error and Meaning

Link Error/Connection error

Possible Cause

The Customer user Interface Unit is not having a strong communication link with your meter through the power source.

Weak batteries inserted into the Customer user Interface Unit.

The Customer user Interface Unit not paired with the meter.

The socket the Customer user Interface Unit is plugged to is not being supplied by IKEJA ELECTRIC Power Supply.

There is no power supply indication on the meter.

Solutions

Replace the batteries with new ones. The new batteries should be strong enough to power on the Customer user Interface Unit.

Change the power socket where the Customer user Interface Unit is plugged.

Pair the customer user Interface unit with the meter.  

Token Reject Error

Possible Cause

The meter tariff is different from what the meter number that was programmed on the meter.

The Electricity Credit Token entered into the meter is wrong.

Solutions

A Key Change Token may be required.
Enter the correct electricity credit token into the meter.
Contact ikeja electric customer service unit

How to pair the CIU -PC1 prepaid meter with the Customer User Interface

Input: 5258 + 5th digit to 12th digit of your meter number and press enter.

For 01011 meters.
Input: 1593570 + Meter Number + Enter (the blue button)
i.e. (159357054130175653 and Press Enter) for

541 meters.
Exclude the digits in brackets i.e. first four digits (0101) and the 13th digit (7)

The feedback response on the meter will be “Accepted”.

If after entering the shortcodes and your meter number or available meter credit is not shown, please follow the how to pair the CIU-PC1 prepaid meter with the customer user interface .

How to recharge

There are two instances to loading your token on the CIU -PC1 prepaid meter

A) If you are a first time user and your power unit is exhausted. Before you buy electricity online,

1. First, make sure the power supply indicator on your meter is ON (This is an indication that there is electricity in your power line or phase). If you can not reach the meter because of the point of installation, simply check if there is electricity in your neighborhood.

2. Put OFF your generator and inverter if you have any to disconnect from these power source

3. Connect to Ikeja electric power supply by. Changing your switch over to Ikeja electric/NEPA line ( Please note that you will not have power yet. Since you are yet to recharge.

4. Insert new batteries into the customer user interface unit and power on the device. If the device does not come one, please press the number ‘3’ on the keypad for the battery to wake up.

5. Plug the customer user interface to your wall power socket in your office/home or where ever you are using the meter.

6. Switch ON the customer user interface (This step will enable the unit to communicate with the meter via the socket wiring).

Final Step both returning user and new users

7. Buy electricity online  get the token and recharge by inputting the 20 digits into the customer user interface unit and press enter (Blue button). The feedback response from the meter will be ‘’Accepted”. Note if you are recharging for the first time and you have a bonus unit, in this case, the bonus token is loaded before the actually purchased token.
